Applying for Positions

Applying for Student Employment Positions

We are excited that you are looking for an on-campus position and we are ready to assist you in the application process. All on-campus positions are posted in Workday. Students with work-study included in their financial aid package are given preference for on-campus positions. Positions may be posted throughout the Academic Year as needed on a rolling basis.

To be eligible to apply for on-campus positions, a student must be enrolled in a full course load and studying on campus. Students studying abroad and students taking a leave of absence are not eligible to apply for positions until they return to campus full time. International students should consult Slater International Center to learn more about on-campus employment eligibility based on their status.

You must also be 18 years of age, or have a Massachusetts Youth Work Permit in order to be employed on campus. You can find more information on how to obtain that permit here

Career Education

The office of Career Education works with students to explore internship, fellowship, scholarship, and career opportunities throughout their time at Wellesley College. Career Education also provides information on career readiness skills and allows students the opportunity to meet with an Advisor for Career Exploration (ACE). All students are encouraged to review Career Education resources and meet with their ACE as needed for resume, cover letter, and interviewing support.

To make an appointment the Summer before your arrival to campus, please email Career Education at careereducation@wellesley.edu. Once on-campus, all students can make appointments through Handshake

Applying in Workday

You can find positions in Workday by clicking on the “Career” worklet (button) and then clicking “Find Jobs for Students.” You must go through this way, rather than using a URL given to you, in order to see the "Apply" button. Students must apply for posted positions by completing the brief application and uploading a resume. All applicants, including those declined, will receive an email notification when the position has been filled.

If you have any questions about a specific requisition, please contact the supervisor listed. You can find this information by looking at the name in parenthesis listed under the Supervisory Organization on the right-hand side.

You may apply for as many positions as you like. There are many students applying, so we recommend submitting applications for at least 5 - 7 positions. Once you have accepted a position, please be considerate of on-campus employers and withdraw your other active applications.

Information about favoriting, applying, and accepting positions in Workday can be found using the resources below:

Responding to an Offer in Workday

When you are selected for a position, you will receive an offer letter in your Workday inbox. The offer letter will give you more information about the estimated number of hours you will work per week and your hourly rate. Should you choose to accept the position, you will need to electronically sign the offer letter in Workday. When accepting positions, please keep in mind that you can only work up to 15 hours per week across all of your held on-campus positions during the academic year.

Use the instructions below to learn how to accept your offer letter and withdraw from positions you are no longer interested in. At this stage you can also choose to decline the offer, but you will need to respond to the offer one way or another.

Accepting Offers and Withdrawing Applications

After you have accepted your offer letter, there are a few other steps for your supervisor and Human Resources to complete before you are officially hired. The offer first goes to your supervisor for approval, and then it comes back to the Student Employment team to process on the backend
