For Students

Student Employment

Wellesley College depends on student employees every day. You’ll find students working as Peer Tutors, Dining Hall Workers, Lifeguards, Event Staff, Research Assistants, and so much more! We take pride in the experience that student employees have on campus, including the development of skills in and out of the classroom. We aim to create an environment where students feel comfortable, leaning into their strengths and challenging themselves as they work to define a career beyond Wellesley.

Purpose

Students who actively engage in student employment will benefit from the following:

  • Building connections with staff, faculty, and fellow students
  • Gaining experience in a professional environment
  • Honing interviewing skills
  • Earning wages for hours worked

Important Dates

Students should begin searching for and applying to positions based on the information listed below. All campus supervisors are strongly encouraged to post jobs, interview, and select candidates during the below hiring periods. This streamlined approach supports inclusive excellence goals to ensure that all students understand when to search for and apply to opportunities. For the purpose of regulating hours, each semester will begin on the Sunday before the day the semester is scheduled to start.

Training Weeks

Weeks listed as “Training” denote a period of time where new student employees can work up to 20 hours per week for training purposes. Training weeks are meant to assist supervisors in managing the beginning of the semester while providing time to train students. In addition, Human Resources will be especially equipped to assist students in completing onboarding paperwork, including verification of I-9 documents, during that period. Students are strongly encouraged to work with their supervisor to complete onboarding tasks with Human Resources during this week.
