Dr. Matsuyo Takizawa Kimura '23
Dr. Matsuyo Takizawa Kimura was a member of the class of 1923 at Wellesley College. She was originally from Utsunomiya, Japan. Before Wellesley she studied at Tsuda College. In 1921, she was an actress involved in the production of two Japanese plays (The Melon Thief and Urashima Taro) at Wellesley. These plays were translated into English by a fellow Japanese classmate, Kikue Ide '22. Takizawa also held the role of Secretary within the college's Cosmopolitan Club. Several columns, many including topics of economic inequality and differences in education, were written by Takizawa and published in the campus newspaper, The Wellesley News.
