Matsuyo Takizawa ('23)

Dr. Matsuyo Takizawa Kimura was a member of the class of 1923 at Wellesley College. She was originally from Utsunomiya, Japan. Before Wellesley she studied at Tsuda College. In 1921, she was an actress involved in the production of two Japanese plays (The Melon Thief and Urashima Taro) at Wellesley. These plays were translated into English by a fellow Japanese classmate, Kikue Ide '22. Takizawa also held the role of Secretary within the college's Cosmopolitan Club. Several columns, many including topics of economic inequality and differences in education, were written by Takizawa and published in the campus newspaper, The Wellesley News.

• Married Dr. Yonetaro Kimura, who also received a PhD from Columbia university and was a professor at the School of Theology at Aoyama University
• Had two children: Etsutaro Kimura, who worked at the NHK Research Institute, and Sachi Kimura, who attended Tamagawa Gakuen
• Received MA and PhD in Economics and Sociology from Columbia University

Matsuyo Takizawa passed away in 1938.
