CALL (Collaborative Administrators Learning Leadership)
Overview
This five session program for Individual Contributors will focus on self-awareness and leadership skills, diversity and inclusion, communications skills and relationship building, and managing personal and organizational change. The goal of this program is to create transferable skills, knowledge, and expertise. The course will allow participants to network across the organization, sharing best practices and knowledge with colleagues.
Who Would Benefit
Employees should be high potential, high performing individual contributors. Employees may self-nominate, or nominate someone with whom they have worked. Department heads and managers may nominate employees who they believe meet the following criteria in addition to excelling in their current positions:
- Interest in collaboration and broadening their contributions to the College
- Desire to continue their professional development and to better the College as a whole
- Commitment of time and energy during the sessions
Program Details
The sessions will run for five weeks and will meet every other week for 2.5 hours on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Goal: The goal of this module is to explore the sixteen personality types and to learn how the facets of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) create a deeper understanding of communication styles at work.
Objectives:
- Learn about the theory of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.
- Assess individual MBTI type.
- Explore how one’s MBTI style can create a deeper connection to one’s work-life.
- Build personal brand using the results of the MBTI.
Thursday, October 10, 2024 (9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.)
Goal: The goal of this module is to create an awareness of the benefits of diversity, inclusion, and belonging. We will discuss the role of implicit bias, where it comes from, and most importantly to consider creative ways to mitigate bias. The aim is to create an organization that understands and embraces diversity and inclusion for everyone.
Objectives:
- Examine and discuss the benefits of a diverse organization.
- Learn about the theory behind how bias develops.
- Discover the Implicit Association Test (IAT) results.
- Identify why understanding bias is essential to one’s organization.
- Participate in the “Window Pane” exercise.
- Develop creative ways to mitigate bias in one’s department

Goal: This goal of this module is to reflect on effective communication strategies, and to learn about one’s unique conflict style using the Thomas-Kilmann conflict assessment. We will learn explore a communication case study and prepare a peer coaching conversation.
Objectives:
- Examine the flow of work and effective communication.
- Learn individual communication styles using the Thomas-Kilmann assessment.
- Explore strategies to manage workload and set work-related goals.
- Explore how to give and receive effective feedback.

Goal: The goal of this course is to discuss change, both personal and organizational, explore the elements of a change transition and adopt strategies to help with the transitional period.
Objectives:
- To understand what constitutes a work change and a personal change.
- Explore the transition period of change.
- Understand the three stages of transition.
- Explore strategies to help individuals and teams deal with change.
- Examine the role of mentors and coaches in change.
Thursday, November 14, 2024 (9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.)
Goal: The goal of this course is to discuss how to activate your growth mindset and create lasting happiness at work.
Objectives:
- Learn about the VIA Character Strengths
- Examine the difference between a growth and a fixed mindset
- Complete the whole person assessment
- Discuss how to embrace feedback and leverage emotional intelligence
- Examine strategies to build a growth mindset and thrive at work
