CALL (Collaborative Administrators Learning Leadership)

Overview 

This five session program for Individual Contributors will focus on self-awareness and leadership skills, diversity and inclusion, communications skills and relationship building, and managing personal and organizational change. The goal of this program is to create transferable skills, knowledge, and expertise. The course will allow participants to network across the organization, sharing best practices and knowledge with colleagues.

Who Would Benefit

Employees should be high potential, high performing individual contributors. Employees may self-nominate, or nominate someone with whom they have worked. Department heads and managers may nominate employees who they believe meet the following criteria in addition to excelling in their current positions:

  • Interest in collaboration and broadening their contributions to the College
  • Desire to continue their professional development and to better the College as a whole
  • Commitment of time and energy during the sessions

Program Details

The sessions will run for five weeks and will meet every other week for 1.5 hours on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Module 1: Understanding Your Style Profile and Build Your Personal Brand
Goal: Explore the sixteen personality types of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to create a deeper
connection at work and develop your personal brand.
 
Learning Objectives:
o Learn about the theory of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
o Participate in exercises to understand each dichotomy
o Examine strategies to use the MBTI to enhance understanding and communication
o Uncover the steps to create a unique personal brand.
Module 2: Creating a Culture of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion through Understanding Bias
Goal: The goal is to examine and understand bias with a particular emphasis on potential implicit (or
hidden) biases and discuss strategies to mitigate bias at work.
 
Learning Objectives:
o Understand the theory behind how bias develops
o Identify why understanding bias is important to an organization
o Discuss each participant’s unique Window Pane
o Develop creative ways to mitigate bias in an organization
Module 3: Mastering Conflict: Moving from Differences to Dialogue
Goal: The goal is to examine what happens during a conflict situation and discover the unique default
conflict-handling style using the Thomas-Kilmann Style Inventory (TKI). The aim is to find a shared
resolution to handling conflict.

 

Learning Objectives:
o Discuss what creates conflict at work
o Identify individual conflict styles using the TKI
o Uncover the elements of a difficult conversation
o Learn new strategies to deal with conflict

 

Module 4: Managing Your Minutes: Effective Time and Meeting Strategies
Goal: Learn how to take control of your time and maximize productivity with proven strategies for
effective time management and impactful meetings.
 
Learning Objectives:
o Learn and apply practical techniques to prioritize tasks, manage your schedule effectively, and
manage interruptions.
o Understand how to plan, lead, and participate in meetings that are purposeful, efficient, and
achieve the desired outcomes.
o Explore tools and frameworks, such as time-blocking, the four quadrants of time allocation and
powerful meeting agendas.
o Develop habits for setting clear goals, tracking progress, and ensuring follow-through.
Module 5: How to Manage Change and Embrace Transitions
Goal: The goal of this course is to discuss personal and organizational change, with an exploration of the
elements of a change transition and strategies to help with the transitional period.
 
Learning Objectives:
o Discuss what elements exist in a work change and a personal change
o Examine the difference between a change event and an internal transition phase
o Understand the three stages of transition
o Examine and discuss a change management case study
Module 6: Activate Your Growth Mindset and Create Lasting Happiness at Work
Goal: The goal of this workshop is to build an understanding of the role of positivity and resilience at
work. Identify how to leverage your internal and external network and create happiness at work.
 
Learning Objectives:
o Identify the difference between a growth and a fixed mindset
o Examine how we compensate for a fixed mindset and the role of imposter syndrome
o Complete the Wheel of Life exercise
o Discuss how to embrace feedback and leverage emotional intelligence (EQ-i)
