Get Involved with Honor Code Council
The Honor Code Council is composed of students, faculty, and staff and is responsible for the implementation and community education of the Honor Code and the Code of Student Conduct. Student members are selected in the spring for the following academic year and are SOAC appointees for one year. Faculty members are appointed by the Agenda Committee, often for two to three years. Staff members are Dean’s Designees and are appointed by the Dean of Students.
The Honor Code Council is chaired by the Chief Justice with the administrative support of the Dean of Students and the Administrative Coordinator. Time Commitment to the Honor Code Council is approximately 1-2 hours per week - weekly student council meetings, monthly full council meetings, hearings as needed, and periodic programming or projects.
What is the role of the Honor Code Council?
Students, faculty, and staff on the Honor Code council act as liaisons to their community, sit on hearings of potential Honor Code or Code of Student Conduct violations, and educate the campus about the Honor Code through their community connections, programming and events, and publications.
What is the goal or focus of the Honor Code Council?
The primary purpose of this council is to educate the Wellesley community about the Honor Code and Code of Student Conduct and for the members to act as advocates for the Honor Code. The secondary purpose is to adjudicate charges of potential Honor Code violations by serving on hearing panels.
