Tax Preparation Help
Wellesley has teamed up with Sprintax to provide you with easy-to-use tax preparation software designed for nonresident students and scholars. Sprintax will generate your tax return and allow you to file it electronically.
Sprintax meets the tax needs of most of Wellesley’s international community. TurboTax is not suitable for most international students and scholars.
The Slater International Center staff are not tax specialists, and we cannot provide individual tax advice. Please use Sprintax and direct your tax preparation questions to the Sprintax help team.
Additionally, we host a tax attorney each year to host a virtual workshop for our community. More details will be sent early in the Spring semester.
The Controller’s Office will provide you with tax documents necessary for filing. For questions about these documents, and when and how you will receive them, please refer to the Controller’s Office website. They are not certified tax preparers and can’t assist you with filing tax documents.
The Student Financial Services staff are also not certified tax preparers. SFS’s obligation during tax season is to provide students with certain tax documents to support the tax filing process. For questions, please refer to the SFS website.
Support from Sprintax
Sprintax offers general tax information workshops free of charge. Sprintax also runs special workshops for those who worked on OPT/CPT during the tax year and for J-1 scholars. We encourage you to attend these free sessions. Slater will communicate how to register for these sessions via your Wellesley email address.
Sprintax also has a comprehensive blog that addresses more unusual situations, like how to file a return for multiple states.
We hope these online resources help you during tax season.
