How to Give FAQ

Recurring Gift

A recurring gift makes budgeting your gift manageable while providing Wellesley with sustained support. On the online form, specify a gift amount and check the box “Make this gift recurring.” You may then elect to make a monthly contribution or customize the frequency of your gift, and to set the desired duration. You may also make arrangements for a recurring gift by electronic funds transfer (see below), or by calling us at 781.283.2802.

Electronic Funds Transfer

An electronic funds transfer (EFT) is a convenient, cost-effective way to support Wellesley. Donor Advised Fund (DAF)

What is a donor advised fund?

Donor advised funds (DAF) allow donors to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund over time. If you have a donor advised fund managed by Fidelity Charitable®, Schwab Charitable®, or BNY Mellon Charitable® you can use DAF Direct to recommend a gift to Wellesley College directly from our website.

Donating through DAF Direct

Contributions through your DAF can be initiated using the DAF Direct widget below.

  • Select your DAF sponsor charity from the dropdown menu labeled “Donate now from:”.
  • Specify “Wellesley College” in the “Designation:” field.
  • Enter your donation amount you would like to recommend in the “Amount:” field.
  • Click on the “NEXT” button to proceed to the sponsoring organization’s website to complete your donor advised fund transaction.
Please note, you will be directed to an external website to complete your transaction.

If your DAF sponsor charity is not available through DAF Direct, simply contact your charity to initiate your donation.

Wellesley College’s tax I.D. number is 04-2103637

Gifts in Honor

Gifts made in honor or in memory are a special way to recognize an individual and their enduring devotion to Wellesley College. The College will inform the person/family about a memorial or honorary gift. Along with your gift, please provide the necessary contact information, including name(s), mailing address, and how you would like to be acknowledged.

Gifts In Kind

Gifts-in-kind are non-cash contributions of materials or long-lived assets. When appropriate and approved by the College, gifts-in-kind serve Wellesley by providing tangible property for current use or for sale to fund College priorities. Donors may benefit from an immediate income tax deduction for the appraised value of the gift and pay no capital gains tax, as long as the gift can be used by the College to carry out its mission.

Consultation with a staff member will help you determine the appropriateness of a gift-in-kind. The College applies special policies and conditions to the acceptance of gifts and tangible property. The Wellesley College Gift Acceptance Policy describes these policies in detail, including procedures and regulations specific to the Davis Museum and the Wellesley College Library, as well as to gifts of real estate.

Gifts from UK Taxpayers

If you are a UK taxpayer—even if you also pay taxes in the U.S.—you may be able to increase the value of your gift significantly. Find out how the Wellesley College Foundation (UK) Limited can make your donation worth more.

Taking advantage of your company's matching gift program may double or possibly triple the value of your gift! Matching gifts are counted toward your membership in the Durant Society. To find out if your company has a matching gift policy, enter your employer's name below, or check with your employer's human resources department.
