Major Minor Declaration App will close between Fall and Spring

The Workday feature for declaring a major or minor and updating a course plan closes between fall and spring (and between spring and fall). See the Important Schedule Note section below.

Major/ Minor Declaration and Senior Course Plan Update Processes

During the Fall and Spring semesters, students declare their major (and optional minor) and they update their major/ minor course plan in Workday and submit it to their advisor, who will review and approve it electronically. Students are expected to meet with their desired faculty advisor prior to submitting a new declaration or confirmation form.

Note: It is highly recommended that students speak both with their Major / Minor Advisor and their Class Dean prior to changing or dropping a major / minor in order to make alternative academic plans and make sure that the student can stay on track to complete all degree requirements.

Things to keep in mind:

  • You may declare a) one major, b) two majors, or c) a major and a minor.
  • You cannot count the same course toward two majors, or simultaneously towards a major and a minor.
  • Students who wish to count courses that were not taken at Wellesley towards their major/minor need to obtain approval from the Department Chair or Program Director via a Transfer of Credit form.

Important Schedule Note

The Workday feature for declaring/dropping majors/minors and updating course plans is only accessible during the Fall and Spring semesters. This feature is not available during the Winter and Summer semesters.

 

Fall 2024: 

  • Major/ Minor Declaration app reopens on Tuesday, September 3, 2024

  • Major/ Minor Declaration app closes on Wednesday, November 27, 2024

Spring 2025: 

  • Major/ Minor Declaration app reopens on Tuesday, January 21, 2025

  • Major/ Minor Declaration app closes on Friday, June 27, 2025

Fall 2025:

  • Major/ Minor Declaration app reopens as of the first day of classes, Fall 2025

 

Deadlines

Note: The dates below are subject to change.

Sophomores
  • Wednesday, November 20, 2024 - for those planning on Fall 2025 study abroad
  • Friday, February 7, 2025 - for those planning on Spring 2026 study abroad
  • Monday, March 3, 2025 - for all Sophomores
Seniors
  • Wednesday, November 20, 2024 - Major/Minor Course Plan Update and Approval due
  • Friday, February 7, 2025 - Last day to add or drop a Major/Minor and Update Course Plan
