Study STEM in beautiful Bologna, Italy
Founded in 1088, the University of Bologna (UniBo) is the oldest university in the Western world. UniBo is reknowned for its research and teaching in the sciences.
Through Wellesley's longstanding partnership with UniBo and the Eastern College Consortium (ECCO), students are able to spend a semester or year studying in one of the most beautiful cities in Italy while developing their Italian language proficiency. STEM courses taken at UniBo can transfer for credit at the 200- or 300-level towards their major or minor. Students may also receive transfer credit for research conducted in a lab.
STEM fields available at the University of Bologna:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Computer Science
- Environmental Studies
- Mathematics
- Neruscience
- Physics
- Psychology
Language Requirement
Intermediate-level proficiency in Italian is required. This can be fulfilled in one of the following ways:
1. ITAS 101 & 102 followed by ITAS 201 & 202
2. Same as above with the option of taking ITAS 202 during Wintersession in Rome
3. ITAS 103 and 203 (Intensive Beginner Italian and Intensive Intermediate Italian)
Declared STEM majors may fulfill the language requirement with 2 semesters of prior Italian study (for fall semester study) or 3 semesters (for spring semester study).
For questions about the language pre-requisite, please contact Prof. Sergio Parussa at sparussa@wellesley.edu or Prof. Daniela Bartalesi-Graf at dbartale@wellesley.edu.
Application
Students apply through ECCO. For questions, contact the Office of International Study at ois@wellesley.edu.
