Wellentine’s Day, a Celebration of Wellesley Students and Their Communities

For fans of NBC’s political satire sitcom Parks and Recreation, the day before Valentine’s Day is a very important one—at least according to the show’s heroine, Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler). Every year on February 13, Knope gathers her closest female friends at the local diner, where they eat breakfast foods and spend time appreciating their unique relationship as “lady friends.” The tradition, known as Galentine’s Day, has since spread from Knope’s hometown in fictional Pawnee, Ind., to real-life communities of women across the country.

This year, Wellesley’s Snapchat Reporters brought their version of Galentine’s Day to campus.

Wellentine’s Day, a day for Wellesley students to celebrate each other, offered the community a chance to slow down their busy, mid-February pace and think about the key relationships that make their lives at Wellesley truly special.

Students spoke to the Snapchat Reporters about their friends, classmates, and mentors and thanked them for being a constant source of love, support, and guidance.
