First Wellesley Alumna to Compete in Olympics for the United States Returns to Campus
On April 23, members of the Wellesley community gathered in Tishman Commons to meet biathlete Clare Egan ’10 and hear about her experience competing in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, this past February.
Egan, the first Wellesley alumna to represent the United States in the Olympics, competed in the 7.5 kilometer biathlon sprint, the 15 kilometer individual, and the 4x6 kilometer relay, in which the U.S. team placed 13th. She has participated in biathlon events since 2013, including the World Championships and the U.S. National Championships, in which she won silver in three events in 2018. While at Wellesley, Egan was on the cross-country and track teams, and she founded Wellesley’s Nordic Ski Team.
