The Cornille Lecture: Haruki Murakami
Writing in an Age of Covid and War

The Suzy Newhouse Center for the Humanities announces a lecture and discussion with Haruki Murakami, the Mary L. Cornille Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Humanities for Spring 2023. Mr. Murakami, who returns to New England after a hiatus of more than a decade, will share his reflections on writing fiction in an era of Covid and war. The lecture will be followed by a short discussion of questions from the Wellesley community. Moderated by Newhouse Center Director, Eve Zimmerman.

With works translated into fifty languages, Haruki Murakami is the author of such beloved works as A Wild Sheep ChaseNorwegian Wood, Kafka on the Shore, and many others, as well as numerous short story collections. His works of non-fiction include UndergroundWhat I Talk About When I Talk About Runningand the recent Novelist as a Vocation. His latest novel appears in Japan on April 13th.
