Artist Talk: Alex Smith
Join Alex Smith for a discussion regarding her site-specific installation in the Davis Museum Lobby, highlighting the first African American graduates of Wellesley College, in conversation with Lisa Fischman, Ruth Gordon Shapiro ’37 Director of the Davis Museum.
Alex Smith, assistant professor of art, will leave Wellesley this summer to take a new position as head of painting at the Royal College of Art in London. She is known for her graphically striking figurative paintings that use an idiosyncratic symbolic vocabulary to allude to culturally resonant stories.
