Fellowships and scholarships can open doors for you to things you might not be able to pursue otherwise. They offer funding to support a range of purposeful activities, including undergraduate research, language study/other study abroad, self-designed projects, teaching and service, graduate or professional study, or even internships and professional placements.

There are opportunities for students and alumnae of every nationality and at every stage of their careers.  Explore what might be the right fit for you, and don’t miss out!

Fellowships and Scholarships for Graduate and Professional Degrees (seniors & alumnae)
There are more funding options than you might think there are to help fund graduate or professional study, in the US or abroad, no matter what your citizenship or major may be. Let us help you start the search.
 
Carnegie Endowment Junior Fellows Program (seniors & alumnae)
The James C. Gaither Junior Fellows Program supports a year's work at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, DC. Eligible are graduating seniors and recent alumni who are eligible to work in the US for a year. Campus application deadline typically in November.
 
Fulbright Grants for US Students (seniors & alumnae)
Supports a year (or occasionally more) of study or research abroad in any discipline, or year-long English teaching assistantships (ETAs) abroad in programs designed by the host countries. Eligible are graduating seniors and alumni who are US citizens. Campus application deadline typically in August.
Chinese Government Scholarships (seniors)
The Chinese government has set up a variety of scholarship programs to sponsor international students, teachers, and scholars to study and do research at Chinese universities. The China Scholarship Council offers two full­-year scholarships for graduating Wellesley College seniors who would like to study for a year at any one of more than one hundred top ­rated Chinese universities. Campus application deadline typically in January.​
 
Churchill Scholarships (seniors and alumnae)
Supports one year of graduate study (including one-year research degrees) in science, mathematics, or engineering at Cambridge. Eligible: graduating seniors and recent alumnae ​of Wellesley College who are US citizens with majors in appropriate STEM fields. Campus application deadline typically in October.
 
Susan Rappaport Knafel '52 Awards (seniors)

Two awards are made each year to graduating seniors at Wellesley: ​the Traveling Fellowship funds a year of purposeful travel abroad to explore a particular interest​; t​he Scholarship for Foreign Study will fund a year of study at a foreign institution to pursue a specific subject which requires contact with foreign scholars, libraries, or resources. Campus application deadline typically in February.

Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program (seniors & alumnae)
Offers full scholarships for any graduate or professional degree offered at Stanford University, plus leadership development, aimed at preparing leaders to find creative solutions for the world's greatest problems. Eligible are graduating seniors and recent alumnae, from any country. Graduating seniors should apply in August for a letter from Wellesley, and all applicants must apply to both the Knight-Hennessy and to the Stanford degree problem of choice by September deadlines. 
 
Luce Scholars Program (seniors and alumnae)
Supports one-year professional placements (along with language training) in Asia for those who have not had extensive experience in Asia. Eligible are US citizens who are graduating seniors or alumnae​. Campus application deadline typically in â€‹early October.
 
Marshall Scholarship (seniors & alumnae)
Supports one or two years of study in any discipline at a university in the United Kingdom. Eligible are graduating seniors and recent alumn​ae​ who are US citizens. Campus application deadline for Wellesley'​s endorsement typically in August​.
 
Mary Elvira Stevens Traveling Fellowship (alumnae)
Established by the will of Alice Alvira Stevens, Class of 1891, the Mary Elvira Stevens Traveling Fellowship is available to a Wellesley graduate who is at least 25 years of age in the year of application and supports up to a full year of purposeful travel outside the United States. We invite proposals that will inspire reflection and growth and lead to more fulfilling and productive personal and professional lives.  Campus application deadline typically in â€‹December.
 
Michel David-Weill Scholarship (seniors)
Supports a two-year master’s degree in any field at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po), but Economics is especially encouraged. Eligible are graduating seniors at Wellesley who are US citizens. Campus application deadline typically in November.
 
Mitchell Scholarship (seniors & alumnae)

Supports one year of study in any discipline at a university in Ireland. Eligible are graduating seniors and alumn​ae ​who are US citizens between the ages of 18 and 30. Campus application deadline for seniors (who must seek institutional nomination) typically in August; alumn​ae​ apply directly for the Mitchell but are very welcome to seek application advice from Wellesley's Fellowships office.​

Saint Andrew's Society of New York Graduate Scholarship (seniors)
Supports one year of study in any discipline at a university in Scotland. Eligible are US citizens with Scottish heritage and financial need. Campus application deadline typically in November.
 
Schwarzman Scholars Program (seniors & alumnae)
Supports leadership development & a special one-year Master’s program at Tsinghua University in Beijing, with concentrations in International Relations, Public Policy, and Economics & Business. Eligible are graduating seniors, current graduate and professional students, and recent alumn​ae,​ from any country​ and any major​ (knowledge of Mandarin is an asset but is not required).​ Official deadlines typically in May and September, with campus deadlines for rising seniors approximately one month earlier.
 
Watson Fellowship (seniors)
The Thomas J. Watson Fellowship offers graduating seniors a one-year grant for independent study and purposeful travel and exploration outside of the United States, to enhance their capacity for resourcefulness, imagination, openness, and leadership and to foster their humane and effective participation in the world community. Campus application deadline typically in 
​late September.​
 
Wellesley-Yenching Graduate Fellowships (seniors & alumnae)
The Elisabeth Luce Moore '24 Wellesley-Yenching Program offers graduating seniors and alumnae year-long fellowships for the teaching of English at Chung Chi College in Hong Kong or at Ginling College in Nanjing, or for an internship at the National Palace Museum in Taipei. Campus application deadline typically in February.

 

Wellesley College Graduate Fellowships & Scholarships (seniors & alumnae)

Wellesley College offers a number of fellowships and scholarships for graduate study or research open to graduating seniors and Wellesley alumnae. Two awards are open to women graduates of any American institution (the Schimke and the Shackford). Awards are usually made to applicants currently enrolled in or applying to graduate/professional school for the following academic year; there is a single common application process for most of these awards, and the campus deadline is typically in January.

Yenching Academy Scholarships (seniors & alumnae)
The Yenching Academy of Peking University builds bridges between China and the rest of the world through an interdisciplinary master’s program in China Studies for outstanding graduates from all over the globe. Deadline to apply for Wellesley's nomination typically in November.
