T3 First Ascent Challenge
T3 First Ascent Challenge
The T3 First Ascent Challenge asks you to tackle as many routes at Open Climbing as you can!
To get started:
- Stop by Open Climbing
- Send a route
- Add your name to the FA sheet
- Add a tally next to your name
At the end of T3, we'll count all the tallies and award prizes:
- A $50 REI gift card to the person to the person who climbs the most routes
- A $30 Sierra Trading Post gift card to the person who climbs the highest cumulative grade toproping
- A bottle of FrictionLabs liquid chalk to the person who climbs the highest cumulative grade bouldering
How will you count cumulative grades?
Toprope Routes
- We will score cumulative grades by the number after the decimal point in the route's YDS grade
- A 5.7 will be counted as 7; a 5.8 will be counted as 8, a 5.9 will be counted as 9; etc.
- A + or - after the route's YDS grade will be counted as a positive or negative half-point
- A 5.9+ will be counted as a 9.5; a 5.11- will be counted as a 10.5
Boulders (Traverses)
- We will score boulders with the number associated with the boulder in the V-scale
- A V2 will be counted as 2; a V3 will be counted as 3; etc.
