Art History Opportunities
With Art History degrees, our students pursue successful careers in many different fields, among them museums, art conservation, law, and medicine. To help our majors develop professional skills, the department maintains close relationships to museums throughout the world. Wellesley students have been welcomed in competitive internships at such prestigious institutions as the Louvre (Paris), the Peggy Guggenheim (Venice), and the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art (New York).
A number of our graduates elect to pursue graduate study. Our recent graduates have gone on to attend Yale, Harvard, NYU Institute of Fine Arts, Columbia, the University of Chicago, Northwestern, the Courtauld Institute, and Princeton, among others. Students interested in graduate study should speak to their faculty advisors about preparation and should consult the College Art Association’s Directory of Graduate Programs in Art History, which is available in the Art Library.
