Inés Maturana Sendoya

Associate Dean of Students for Inclusion and Engagement

Inés Maturana Sendoya, (She/Her/Hers) the Associate Dean of Students for Inclusion and Engagement, joined Wellesley College in 2018. In that capacity she provides direction and supervision for the staff and programs of the following departments: Office of Intercultural Education including the Assistant Deans of Intercultural Education and advisors for students of African descent, Asian descent, and Latinx students and providing oversight of the Harambee House and Acorns House. She also supervises the staff in the Slater International Center and the LGBTQ Programs and Services.

The Associate Dean provides leadership and vision to divisional initiatives on inclusion and engagement throughout the student experience. In partnership with other staff and colleagues in academic affairs, faculty, and students, she generates the development of strategic goals and creative programs for departments under her supervision. She's responsible to develop a comprehensive intercultural competency training initiative in collaboration with colleagues across the division. She also develops and assess programs and identifies gaps in services to create a more consistently welcoming and inclusive climate for students of different backgrounds, experiences, and social identities. She serves in various committees including the Commission on Ethnicity, Race & Equity, the Orienation Committee and the Inclusive Excellence Committee. She chairs the Working Group on Immigration Policy. She also teaches a course titled "Building Intercultural Skills".

Dr. Maturana Sendoya has over 25 years of experience directing academic and social support services designed to address the needs of students of color and international students at both public and private institutions. 

Dr. Maturana Sendoya is from Colombia and has lived in the United States for over 30 years. In her spare time, she enjoys watching Korean dramas, Indian movies and Colombian soap operas and practicing meditation. 

Dr. Maturana Sendoya has a doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Massachusetts Boston, a graduate certificate in International Higher Education from Boston College, a master's degree in Intercultural Relations from Lesley University and a bachelor's in Modern Languages from the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia. She is fluent in Spanish, English and French.
