"For Academic Institutions to Thrive, It is Crucial for All Voices To Be Heard," President Bottomly Wrote in the Huffington Post

Wellesley College President H. Kim Bottomly is now a regular contributor to the Huffington Post. In her most recent blog post, President Bottomly reflected on what good governance in Higher Education really means and the role the relationship between faculty and trustees plays in the health of a school.

“Boards of trustees and faculty have a common goal: ensuring the progress and best interests of the university,” Bottomly wrote. “Rather than working at cross-purposes and conceiving the shared structure as a battle of the MBAs versus the PhDs, trustees and faculty must recognize that each brings great value to the table.”

According to President Bottomly, colleges and universities must fill the seats at the table with a diverse balance of voices. “For academic institutions to thrive, it is crucial that all voices be heard. We must commit to cultivating collaboration between the business leaders who sit on our boards, and the academic experts who serve in our classrooms,” she wrote.
