Last-Minute Giving Still Appreciated!
During the spring, students wrote to donors whose generosity supports financial aid scholarship funds at Wellesley. This yearly tradition makes real the connection between students and donors.
One student wrote:
Coming from a working class family from a small town, I had no idea what I was signing up for when I came to Wellesley. I applied because I knew it was a highly recognized institution and I knew that its financial aid was need-blind. The only way I was able to come to Wellesley was because of its generous financial aid package. Upon arriving here, I was surrounded by the most intelligent and diverse students in the country and from around the world. I thirsted for knowledge and wisdom and found everything I was looking for and much more at Wellesley.
Wellesley meets 100 percent of demonstrated financial need, and this past academic year 58 percent of Wellesley students received financial aid support.
Another student wrote:
Wellesley offered me the best financial aid package of all the colleges and universities to which I applied. What I especially appreciate about Wellesley is the idea that I am valued as a full person, given the ability to explore my intellectual passions and interests, and am well supported by faculty, staff, and other students.
The generosity of this group of donors is indeed tremendous. We also value every gift, regardless of size—participation in and of itself boosts the College and helps ensure that Wellesley continues to attract the most promising young women—women who will make a difference in the lives of others.
We take a moment here as the fiscal year closes to thank all who gave to the College, and to encourage participation in supporting Wellesley.
