The Historic Success of Wellesley’s Comprehensive Campaign Supports the Aspirations of Students Like Caitlin Aguirre ’20

As the starting point guard for the Wellesley Blue basketball team, a student leader, and a biochemistry major, Caitlin Aguirre ’20 says her experiences at Wellesley are part of what has pointed her towards a career as a physician in underserved communities. In her video, Aguirre discusses how Wellesley gave her the opportunity to pursue all of her passions equally—on the court, in the lab, and out in the community. She credits Wellesley’s Career Education, especially her involvement with Career Education’s Ministrare Council, for helping her to discover her passion for social justice while pursuing lifelong career aspirations.

It was a visionary gift in 2015 that launched both the campaign—the largest fundraising effort ever to be undertaken by a women’s college—and Wellesley’s award-winning center for Career Education. Dedicated to supporting and empowering students like Aguirre, as well as alumnae, Wellesley Career Education helps students envision and achieve their full potential in every field imaginable.

Celebrate all the ways the generosity of our alumnae and other supporters have contributed to a Wellesley education by exploring the campaign microsite. Funds raised through the campaign have advanced Wellesley’s world-class academic program, including curricular and pedagogical innovation across disciplines as well as faculty and student research and scholarship. The campaign has increased support to Wellesley’s financial aid—Wellesley is today investing more in financial aid than ever before, making the College more accessible to more bright young women. The campaign has also helped renew some of the campus spaces that are critical to a residential college’s thriving community—the physical embodiment of the Wellesley experience.
