Wellesley Celebrates End of Fall Semester
December marks the end of the fall semester and opens a window into the various ways Wellesley closes out the year. Here we present a photo essay with images from some of the activities.
December graduates were honored at a celebration in the Schneider Reading Room on December 4, complete with congratulatory speeches, white roses, and a cake decorated with the words “Congratulations Graduates.” John T. O’Keefe, director of advising and academic support services and dean of the class of 2020, said the relatively new tradition was started by Melissa Zambrana ’16, who finished her studies in December 2015 and wanted to build a sense of community among the group of seniors who were graduating at the end of the fall semester.
In the Science Center, a group of faculty and students formed a parade line and marched around the second floor and into the classroom of Adele Wolfson, the Nan Walsh Schow '54 and Howard B. Schow Professor in the Physical and Natural Sciences and Professor of Chemistry, who was teaching her final class at Wellesley before her retirement. While playing assorted instruments—a flute, a violin, tambourines and bells—they sang “Oh When the Saints Go Marching In” and “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow.”
