Wellesley Hosts Seven College Conference

Wellesley College is hosting the presidents, provosts, and other senior leaders of Barnard, Bryn Mawr, Mt. Holyoke, Smith, and Vassar—schools that, along with Wellesley, historically have been referred to as the Seven Sisters—during this year’s Seven College Conference, held November 27 and 28.

Connected by their long histories as women’s colleges and their shared mission to make education more widely accessible, these schools continue to be learning and residential environments where women can thrive.

As part of the conference, Beverly Daniel Tatum, author and president emerita of Spelman College, led a workshop for the attendees. Tatum speaks widely on strategies for creating inclusive campus environments, the impact of race in the classroom, and higher education leadership. She has authored several books including the best-selling “Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?”and Other Conversations About Race.
