StoryCorps Will Be Recording Wellesley Stories On-Campus Through October 24

Wellesley is a community with a long and storied history, and with many stories to tell. This week, some of those stories will be recorded by members of the StoryCorps team to be archived at the Library of Congress.

"The goal of the StoryCorps visit is to celebrate Wellesley’s effect on the world through our stories," said Elizabeth Gildersleeve, assistant vice president for communications and public affairs.

Known as "America's oral history project," StoryCorps represents the largest single collection of human voices ever gathered. The stories recorded at Wellesley will join more than 60,000 interviews with over 100,000 participants from all backgrounds in the archives at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress

The StoryCorps MobileBooth rolled onto campus yesterday and will be setting up to record community members from October 22 through 24. Interviews will pair combinations of faculty, students and alumnae for conversations illuminating the Wellesley Effect and exploring the meaning and importance of Wellesley connections.

Folks who don't get the chance to venture into the StoryCorps MobileBooth are invited to share their Wellesley stories through the StoryCorps mobile app. Download the app from Storycorps.me and email publicaffairs@wellesley.edu for the app login credentials. Then invite someone you care about to sit down with you for a conversation about your Wellesley experience and record your story.
