A Little Spoof on Popular TV Helps Us Explore Revitalized Academic Spaces
Who is this bow-tied "Wendell Wellesley"? Why, he's the faux realtor* showing off newly renovated academic spaces at Wellesley à la HGTV.
Another milestone of Wellesley's multiyear Campus Renewal program is approaching as the academic year gets underway and the first phase of renovations to Founders and Green halls make renewed spaces ready for action. The summer's work has brought us state-of-the-art classrooms and much more unified and functional faculty office space, while retaining the look and character of these iconic buildings.
The video below shares some of the updates, with a nod to a favorite home and garden channel show. In "Office Seekers," our friend "Wendell" takes us along on a hunt for new office space for Senior Lecturer in Spanish Veronica Darer. In the course of their seeking, we see the work—in progress and finished—on classrooms, common space, and offices. Oh, the features and benefits!
As renewal efforts progress, Wellesley’s website will report on upcoming and ongoing initiatives and construction, as well as the completion of different phases of individual projects. The blog called The Dirt gives more day-to-day reports about where campus residents and visitors might encounter detours, alternate parking, noise, or truck traffic.
Campus Renewal projects support College academics, the residential experience, and wellness and recreational programs at Wellesley. Through this program of renovations, Wellesley will see transformations of its living and learning environments within the historic and natural splendors of this beautiful campus.
* And, inside scoop, it is Senior Lecturer in Theatre Studies Diego Arciniegas playing the role.
