Guidelines for the assignment of Clapp Library faculty studies
(updated Jan. 23, 2017)
All faculty members, half-time or greater and including emeriti faculty, are eligible to apply for a Clapp Library study. Since there are a limited number of studies, assignments will be made according to the following priorities:
-
Full-time teaching faculty with no other dedicated office space on campus (Mellon post-docs with teaching responsibilities and faculty on the phased retirement plan are considered full-time teaching faculty).
-
Full-time faculty on leave with no other office space on campus and part-time teaching faculty with no other dedicated office space on campus.
-
Emeriti faculty.
-
If there are studies available after categories 1-3 have been served, studies will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Faculty can begin applying for study space on March 1 in the academic year before they will need the study, indicating if they would be willing to share a study. Studies will be assigned from August 15 to the following August 14. We would not normally be able to entertain requests for specific study spaces.
-
In order to make the studies available to the widest range of faculty members, a current faculty member who has occupied a study for two consecutive years will normally have the lowest priority when study spaces are assigned (emeriti faculty excluded).
The form below should be filled out annually, by March 1.
