Weighing the Future: Race, Science, and Pregnancy Trials in the Postgenomic Era
This book launch will include a discussion from interdisciplinary scholars across Anthropology, Women's and Gender Studies, and Public Health, followed by a talk from the author and Q&A session. Weighing the Future is the first ethnography of clinical trials that target ethnically diverse pregnant populations in the United States and United Kingdom. It applies a feminist and critical race approach to examine the translation of new science in evidence-based medicine.
Panelists include Prof. Banu Subramaniam (WGST, UMass Amherst), Chelsey Carter (Princeton and Yale), and Katherine Darling (University of Maine at Augusta).
This is an in-person event open only to students, staff, and faculty in the Wellesley College testing protocol. Click here to register for virtual attendance.
