Jewett Auditorium
Free and open to the public

Gabriela and Betty Anne Díaz will perform works for violin and piano by exceptional women from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. From the dreamy impressionism of Lili Boulanger and the soulful Romanticism of Clara Schumann, to the fiery virtuosity of Grazyna Bacewicz and new sound worlds of Kaija Saariaho, this program showcases the incredible talents of these extraordinary women composers. Gabriela and Betty Anne will speak about each of the composers and their works, giving insight into the lives of these great composers.

Gabriela is a member of the Music Department performance faculty and holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from New England Conservatory, where she was a student of James Buswell. Devoted to contemporary music, she has been fortunate to work closely with many significant living composers on their own compositions and is actively involved in contemporary music in Boston. She is a member of the Callithumpian Consort, Firebird, Ludovico, Dinosaur Annex, and Sound Icon Ensembles.
