International Contemporary Ensemble
Fitting perfectly with the Wellesley music faculty’s innovative and collaborative work in multimedia music and visual art, the International Contemporary Ensemble presents works of several pioneering women in immersive music composition: Ashley Fure, Suzanne Farrin, Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir, and Pauline Oliveros. The ensemble will work closely with Wellesley music and visual arts faculty and students during the course of the week’s residency, culminating in this event. Taking inspiration from Ashley Fure's award-winning 2017 work, The Force of Things: an Opera for Objects, the project also dovetails with the College’s new Sustainability Initiative, exploring the profound impact of environment on humanity and contemplating humanity's impact on the planet.
