Upstage Theatre Presents Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead
In this absurdist, existentialist tragicomedy, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, two minor characters from William Shakespeare’s Hamlet are sent for by the king and queen of Denmark to glean what is afflicting their dear old friend, Prince Hamlet himself. Along the way, they meet a company of tragedians who enact The Murder of Gonzago for the court but perhaps are playing at something more what they originally seem to be. Tom Stoppard’s topsy-turvy take on one of the most famous plays in the English language offers laughs, drama, and a great deal to think about when you leave the theater.
