Auden Bunn:

Remember a Place Not Here

Auden Bunn
Media Arts & Sciences and Sociology major

Auden Bunn is a Cambodian-American artist from the greater Philadelphia area in Pennsylvania. In their work, Auden explores themes of countermemory, idea of belonging and community, formation of self-identity, and diasporic narratives. Their art is guided by their belief in Buddhism, love for community, interest in archiving collective memory and oral history, and the simple joy of watching sunlight glimmer off Lake Waban. Auden's pieces in this exhibit are based in the media of analog and digital photography, digital art, and book arts.

In their photos series, titled home with you, Auden utilizes film and digital photography to explore notions of home and belonging, rooted in community care, collectivism, and decolonization. What does it mean to have a home, and to have your home taken away from you? What does belonging look like, and what does it mean to create it in liminal spaces without hierarchies and without the characteristics of white supremacy culture? Auden explores these questions through glimpses of the Sustainability Co-op's Homestead house at Wellesley and Oakland, California in film and digital photos. In their work, they present past and future imaginings and lived memories of what it means to feel at home.
