Jocelyn Ramirez:

This project attempts to extend the themes of my past work while considering the added gravity of the current state of the world. Now more than ever the passage of time is evaluated, mourned, and agonized over, and the pace of my film exaggerates this phenomenon. This film is composed from footage shot intermittently over several years, and I appear in this film as I existed at those points in time, a reflection on the coalescence of various fragments of my identity as a significant period of my life comes to an end. Another prominent character in this work is an orange tree from a neighbor’s backyard, a marker of byegone youth and the fragrance of memory. I hope to capture the surreal quality of life as it exists right now and bring to life the intense dreams that bookend my days.
