President Bottomly and Secretary Albright in British Vogue, USA Today

Wellesley College President H. Kim Bottomly and Wellesley alumna and former Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright '59 recently spoke together with  British Vogue  about issues of women in politics. The interview followed close on the heels of an international event Wellesley held in London, and looks toward the just-launching Women in Public Service Project (WSPS) of the U.S. State Department and Seven Sisters Colleges.

President Bottomly was also interviewed by USA Today's Kindness blog (whose tagline is "making a difference every day") about WSPS and its first summer institute, which will take place at Wellesley College June 11 through 22, 2012. The Institute is a first-of-its-kind program that will train the next generation of global women leaders. It will convene 50 promising women leaders from around the world, including areas undergoing political transformations and social change, such as Arab countries in the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region.

Where will this project lead? As Bottomly told Kindness, " I am a scientist by training, so here's how I see this: It will be like dropping a seed crystal onto a petri dish. It will spread, creating many new crystals. It will become a self-perpetuating process that will foster more leaders."
