Nearly three years in the making, this momentous transformation of the Davis galleries represents a milestone of “rediscovery.” The process has involved the close attention of Davis curators, collections staff, conservators, consulting scholars and specialists, student workers and summer interns, along with architecture, engineering, and design firms. This major reinstallation more than doubles the number of works of art on view.
Over three floors, the new Davis galleries tell stories of collecting at Wellesley College, presenting the global breadth and strength of our encyclopedic holdings with renewed attention to geographic and chronological context, and highlighting beloved art works alongside lesser-knowns, some shown for the very first time.
