Vacation Time: how the way you travel can change the way you work (Webinar, March 2019)
52% of Americans had a surplus of unused vacation time in 2017. Beth Santos '08 presents this webinar, designed to inspire fellow Wellesley alumnae to recognize and address what keeps us from utilizing employment earned vacation time. It's time to tap into earned time off and consider it as an opportunity for self-betterment as a global citizen.
The intersection of new technology, low-fare airlines and the sharing economy has allowed us to work in places we never thought we could, from a cabin in the Smoky Mountains to a pool in Nicaragua. Travel becomes more than just an escape from the daily routine — it's a way to immerse ourselves more deeply in the world around us.
In this webinar, we'll discuss:
• Is travel a right, responsibility, or a privilege? Unpacking what travel means and how we can make the most of it whether at home or abroad.
• How to build the flexibility to travel into your current career.
• Concrete ways to translate the lessons from your travels into thoughtful leadership and success as a professional.
• Tips to make travel successful, even with the tiniest amount of vacation time on your calendar.
