The Wellesley College BEAM initiative launched in 2024 to support current and future business leaders and entrepreneurs, and ensure all students are empowered to pursue future career pathways as financially savvy graduates. Thanks to the generosity of Lois D. Juliber ’71, this initiative is comprised of portfolio of programs covering three main areas:

Business: Through programming including a speaker series and workshops, BEAM will expose students to emerging and high-growth fields, inspiring them to shape the future of business and its role in society across industries.

Entrepreneurship: Students will have opportunities to cultivate a growth mindset, expand their entrepreneurial thinking, explore business planning, and gain experience interning with startups.

Money Management: Financial literacy workshops and training will soon roll out across campus to ensure students are empowered to pursue future career pathways as financially savvy graduates.

BEAM Programs

Upskill: Skill-Building Intensives

Upskill is a one-week, immersive experiential learning opportunity during wintersession where students will gain hands-on experience and begin building skills in specific industries. Students will work with experts, practitioners, and trainers to apply what they’re learning. In 2025, the 5 tracks offered are Coding Careers, Entrepreneurship, Investment Banking, and Medical Professions, and Journalism.

Make It Make Cents

The Money Management portion of the BEAM Initiative will develop a 4-year curriculum for financial literacy training customized for the Wellesley experience and including topics such as budgeting, credit, debit management, determining salary priorities, funding retirement accounts and employer matching, and investing. The goal of the program is to ensure all students are empowered to pursue future career pathways as financially savvy graduates.

Wellesley In Business Symposium

This new, annual Symposium will be launched in fall 2025 as the hallmark event of the BEAM initiative. The Symposium will feature a different category-defining organization each year, allowing students to take a deep dive into a leading company and explore the multitude of unique roles and functions necessary to achieve its mission. This will be an opportunity for students to broaden their exposure to specific industries and learn from Wellesley alums and other business leaders. Details to come.

Entrepreneurship

The BEAM Initiative will cultivate a robust ecosystem for Wellesley’s existing and aspiring entrepreneurs that will enhance collaborative problem solving and inspire an entrepreneurial/growth mindset at Wellesley. Programming and partnerships will be announced soon. Students and alums interested in entrepreneurship career advising are warmly invited to book appointments in Handshake, and learn more about pursuing entrepreneurial careers via the link below.
