Morelle Lasky Levine '56 Works on Paper Gallery
Works of art housed in museum collections are often pieces of a larger whole—removed, stripped, chiseled, ripped, and cleaned into presentable and aestheticized objects. This exhibition explores fragments acquired in the mid-20th century, when modern taste and art historical pedagogy combined to require authentic and beautiful objects for museum collections.
Curated by Meredith Fluke, Kemper Curator of Academic Exhibitions and Affairs, and Amanda Gilvin, Assistant Curator. Presented with generous support from The Mary Tebbetts Wolfe ‘54 Davis Museum Program Fund.
