Hu Shuli is internationally recognized for her achievements in journalism and is now editor-in-chief of Caixin Media Company Ltd., as well as dean of the School of Communications and Design at Sun Yat-sen University.
She is the force behind Caixin Media, which is dedicated to providing financial and business news and information through periodicals, online content, mobile apps, conferences, books, and TV/video programs. Caixin Media aims to blaze a trail that helps traditional media prosper in the new media age through integrated multimedia platforms. Led by Hu Shuli, the editorial staff at Caixin Media is well-known for independent thinking and professional practices.
In 1998, Hu was the founding editor of Caijing magazine, "with two computers and a borrowed conference room," according to the New Yorker magazine, and she guided the magazine for the next 10 years, before creating Caixin Media.
In 2009, Foreign Policy magazine named her among the Top 100 Global Thinkers. She was listed among Time magazine's 100 most influential people in 2011.
Hu earned her B.A. from the People's University of China; and an executive M.B.A. from the Fordham University and China Center for Economic Research at Peking University.
