Highlights

The Wellesley Career Education model was dramatically transformed in Fall 2016, replacing the Center for Work and Service. The 2022-2023 academic year marks its seventh year. We are pleased to share highlighted data points that demonstrate our commitment to helping students to engage in career exploration, develop their personal advisory boards, participate in experiential learning, and implement a career action plan.

Inclusive Excellence

Inclusive excellence is a top priority at Wellesley College. The career education model takes into account the diversity in background, perspective, and career goals of all Wellesley students. We’ve been pleased to see engagement increase across class levels, disciplines, and distinct populations. Industry and Field Interests

Students and alums sign up for industry newsletters, and Career Education advisors stay in touch with them regularly to share jobs, internships, events, and deadlines connected to their fields of interest. These industry clusters connect students, alums, employers, and faculty who have the common goal of supporting Wellesley students in their pursuit of career success and satisfaction.

Connecting to the Wellesley Network

Career Education continued two popular programs that each cultivate connections between alums and students. The Mentorship Affinity Pods (MAP) Program matches alums and students in mentorship pod groups based on self-identified industry interests and shared identity. Similarly, Hive Internship Projects (HIPs) continued to generate opportunities for students to work with alums, employers, and campus partners.

Hive Internship Projects

Hive Internship Projects (HIPs) are short-term, virtual experiences designed by alums, parents, employers and campus partners. HIPs unbundle long-term internships and separate out individual projects that can be completed remotely. HIPs were created during the Summer of 2020, and were launched for the 4th consecutive year in Summer 2023.

Internships help students connect theory to practice, confirm a professional interest, point them in a new direction, or open a surprising new door. Over 25% of all students participate in a Wellesley-funded internship during their four years. Thank you to our generous donors who have made these experiences possible.

At EFA RBPMW, I’ve assisted master printers in printing editions for artists, performed research and constructed funding proposals, managed the day-to-day operations of the printshop, and got to meet dozens of artists who use this space everyday and explore the archives of the printshop!

Fellowships and scholarships can fund graduate or professional study, purposeful travel, professional placements, self-designed projects, and so much more. They can help students and alums build experience and qualifications, explore a passion, and clarify a path forward.
