Joyce Yanyun Man is director of Peking University-Lincoln Institute Center for Urban Development and Land Policy (PKU-Lincoln Center) and senior fellow and director of the China Program at Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. Currently she is also professor of economics at the School of Urban and Environmental Sciences at Peking University.
Prior to the current position, she was an associate professor at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University, Bloomington. Professor Man received her Ph.D. degree in economics from the Johns Hopkins University in 1993. Her teaching and research interests focus on urban and regional economics, public finance, housing economics, land policy, and sustainable development.
Man has contributed many articles to international and domestic journals. She is the author of the following books: Tax Increment Financing and Economic Development: Uses, Structures and Impact (co-editor with Craig Johnson; State University of New York Press, 2001), China’s Local Public Finance in Transition (co-edited with Yuhung Hong; Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, 2010), China’s Housing Reform and Outcomes (Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, 2011), and China’s Environmental Policy and Urban Development (Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, 2013). She has been based at Peking University in Beijing since 2007.
PKU-Lincoln Center is a policy research center jointly established by Peking University and Lincoln Institute of Land Policy in October 2007. It is dedicated to analyzing policy issues related to urban, land, and fiscal policies in China and providing a platform to facilitate education, training, policy research, discussion, and debates among policymakers, practitioners, and domestic and international scholars to promote a greater understanding of urbanization, land policy, and property taxation in China and around the world.
