She is currently studying abroad in Cape Town, South Africa where she is volunteering at Sisters Incorporated. There she helps out in the children's center and does research on domestic violence and gender-based violence in South Africa and it’s impact on children. On campus, she works at the music library organizing and checking out scores, books, and equipment for patrons. She spent her junior year interning at Coaching for Change, mentoring 3rd, 7th, and 8th graders in Massachusetts, was part of the PSMC (Political Science Majors Council), and in the summer of 2024 taught a robotics workshop in Tanzania through a MIT D-Lab. She has a general understanding of Spanish. Serenity’s goal after graduation is to work at an organization focused on empowering the youth and creating spaces where marginalized people have access to opportunities such as education, housing, health care and food security.
