Nina McKee ’16 Albright Fellow 2015
In the summer of 2014, she interned for Food Tank: The Food Think Tank as a writer and researcher, contributing articles to the organization’s online publications. Nina took her sophomore fall semester away from Wellesley and traveled to Guatemala to volunteer with a rural health clinic and a domestic violence shelter. She spent the spring semester of her sophomore year in Amman, Jordan, on a study abroad program focused on health, environment and community development; in addition to her studies there, she conducted research about Jordan’s food aid programs for Syrian refugees affected by the ongoing Syrian conflict. On campus, she is a member of the varsity crew team, a student leader on residential life, and an avid-lecture attendee. Nina speaks Spanish at an advanced level and has studied Arabic for 3 years. Nina’s post-graduation plans often change, but she hopes to increase her understanding of the food system (and the greater world) in a multitude of ways: by working for non-profit organizations domestically and internationally; working on gardens, farms or fishing boats; pursuing a joint J.D./M.A. degree and/or a PhD; and eventually teaching.
