She is particularly passionate about the intersection of public health and medical care and addressing health care inequality. In the summer of 2021, she interned at YLabs, a global community health non profit doing work centered around youth engagement to support projects related to sexual and reproductive health, mental health, HIV/AIDS, and economic inclusion. On campus, Ilma is the co-president of Al-Muslimat and involved with the Wellesley chapter of Questbridge and the Pakistani Students Association. She is also a Ministrare Council coordinator and a research assistant in Professor Andrea Sequeira’s lab doing genetics research. In the future, Ilma hopes to attend graduate school in medicine and public health and apply her skills to serve underserved communities around the world.
