With support from the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship, she has conducted research in the metaphysics of race and is studying free speech issues surrounding violent pornography. Her senior thesis provides an account of self-love, especially as it relates to friendship, in Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics and Eudemian Ethics. Last summer, Claudia participated in the Institute for the Recruitment of Teachers, which trains future educators in pedagogy and critical theory. In addition to informing her work as a coordinator and tutor for Wellesley’s public speaking program and debate mentor, her passion for teaching and research has led her to pursue a Ph.D. in philosophy. Claudia is committed to expanding access to safe education and combating violence against women and people of color.
