In the summer of 2021, Betty interned at J-PAL, a global research center working to reduce poverty by utilizing evidence-based policy, where she conducted research, analyzed funding proposals, and gained insight into the use of randomized controlled trials in development economics. She also worked as a research assistant in MIT’s Political Science department, generating theories about Rules of Origins’ political origins and exploring the impact of FTAs on global inequality. On campus, Betty is the vice president of Wellesley for UNICEF, a PLTC public speaking tutor, and a violinist in the MIT Symphony Orchestra. She is a native Chinese speaker and her next professional goals include working at an international organization or policy think tank.
