For her honors thesis, she is translating the autobiography of the Japanese feminist Kato Shizue. Avalon is currently working as an intern at the State Department’s Foreign Service Institute. This past summer, she worked as a Public Affairs intern at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, where she helped answer press inquiries and designed graphics. On campus, Avalon is the House President of Munger Hall, volunteers as a tutor at Chinatown Citizenship, and plays the organ. She has working knowledge of Japanese. Avalon’s goal upon graduation is to work in the legal field and eventually attend law school.
