Anna Wan ’21
There she holds an appointed position as Press Officer of the Oxford Union. She is a consultant with the Oxford Development Consultancy, where she is working with a Lebanese micro-finance firm to provide loans to women, youth, and refugees. Over the summer of 2019, Anna worked as a Young Ambassador at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a foreign policy think tank. Based in Beijing, China, she focusing on global diplomacy and Sino-American relations. As the daughter of Chinese immigrants, she is invested in advocating for the Chinese immigrant community and exploring Chinese culture. Her interest in international relations and development work has led her to work closely with MIT’s Development Lab (D-Lab) conducting fieldwork on agricultural engineering innovation in Botswana and coffee business practices in Colombia. Anna studied Arabic in Amman, Jordan as part of the U.S. Department of State’s National Security Language Initative for Youth program. At Wellesley, Anna has served as an Executive Senator in Wellesley College Government, an Associate Editor with The Wellesley Globalist, a counselor with Chinatown Afterschool, and a volunteer with the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter. Anna is passionate about bridging cultures across boundaries of politics and difference, and the importance of service in order to give back to the world. In the future, she hopes to enter law school and maintain an international scope with a focus on advocating for voices that may not otherwise be heard.
