She served in the Romanian government as a Finance Minister and during her tenure, focused on fighting large tax evasion, modernizing the tax collection agency and promoting a pro-business tax reform. She also was an economic adviser to the Prime Minister on fiscal issues, served as the President of the State Aid Policy Council, headed the Prime Minister's Delivery Unit, managed the dialogue of the Prime Minister with the private sector and served as the Prime Minister's liaison with foreign embassies in Bucharest.
Prior to joining the government, she worked as an N.R.I. Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, DC and as an assistant professor at University of Maryland, College Park. She currently consults various governments in Europe and Middle East on fiscal reforms and center of government organization.
