She combines her two passions by focusing on both Near Eastern antiquities and the study of Islamic Art, while exploring art’s role in the Middle East today as a medium for the study of politics, power, and history. During the summer of 2014, Talin had the opportunity to work in Tangier, Morocco for the American Legation Institute of Moroccan Studies where she digitized and archived a glass slide collection from the 1930s for the Aga Khan Documentation Center’s project Archnet, based at MIT. On campus, she works as a circulation librarian at the Music Library, and is active in various organizations such as Wellesley Arab Women’s Association and Wellesley Students for Justice in Palestine. Talin has a working knowledge of Armenian, French, Spanish, and Arabic and aspires to add Persian, Italian, and German to the list during graduate school. This summer, Talin hopes to find an internship that yet again combines her passion for the Middle Eastern region and the study of art.
