A diplomat and academic with more than 25 years of experience in policy-making, diplomacy, international cooperation, negotiation, and governance.
Ambassador Whyte is the former Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Costa Rica to the United Nations in Geneva (2014-2020), former Vice Foreign Minister of Costa Rica (2000-2002) and first woman and person of African descent to serve in the position, and current Professor of Practice at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies.
