Her honors thesis seeks to understand the relationship between public policy and private annuity markets in Chile. In the summer of 2021, she interned with EducationUSA, a U.S Department of State network that promotes U.S higher education globally. She worked with the Latin America branch, supporting Opportunity Funds Scholars in Paraguay. She spent her junior year abroad at Oxford University where she studied Economics. On campus, she is a Student Ambassador in the Office of Admission and the Oxford/Cambridge Peer Advisor for the Office of International Study. She is also a student representative on the Academic Review Board. She is a native Spanish speaker and is fluent in French. After Wellesley, Mariela hopes to pursue a graduate degree in Economics.
